Kathryn P. “Kitty” Bolton, 75, of Wilmington, died 12:27 p.m. Tuesday (July 22, 2008) at Clinton Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel L. Bolton Jr., who died in 1987. They were married in August 1951.

Mrs. Bolton was born Nov. 8, 1932, in Greenville, Miss., daughter of the late Carey and Mattie Kimmons Payne. She had worked as the secretary for the command post at the Clinton County Air Force Base. She was a longtime member and former board member of the Clinton County YMCA. She also was an avid golfer and a member of the Elks 797 Ladies’ Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, traveling, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was a Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan.

She is survived by two sons, Butch (Sandy) Bolton of Bellbrook and Lamar Bolton of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Lindsay (Jason) Grant of Gahanna, Leslie Bolton of Wilmington, Joshua Bolton of Xenia, Carrie (Scott) Self of New Vienna, J.T. Bolton of Bellbrook and Nathan Bolton of Bellbrook; four great-grandchildren, Sydney Bolton of Wilmington, Shelby Ford of Wilmington, Steevie Ford of Wilmington and Wesley Loyd Self of New Vienna; two brothers-in-law, Hugh (Kay) Bolton of Wilmington and Sidney Bolton of Boquete, Panama; and a sister-in-law, Betty Ann Payne of Mississippi.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sonny Payne, and two sisters, Helen Stubblefield and Martha Ann Brown.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at REYNOLDS-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
