LANCASTER: CMSGT Leonard R. Dougherty, USAF, RET, 89, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Fairfield Medical Center. Leonard served in the US Army during WWII and retired from the Air Force Reserve in 1983. He was a member of Mills Memorial United Methodist Church, Lancaster Camp Ground, American Legion Post#11, VFW, Air force SGTS Association, D.A.V. and was a Mason.

Survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Ruth L. Dougherty; son, Mike (Peggy) Dougherty, daughter, Mary E. Dougherty; 7 grandchildren and numerous, great grandchildren; brother, Claude Dougherty, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his father, Rev. Charles Dougherty, mother, Esther Mae Williams Cherry, infant son, Leonard R. Dougherty Jr., sister, Laura Dougherty, brother, Charles Dougherty and step-brother, Walter Cherry.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home with Rev. Rita Brown officiating. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at New Lexington Cemetery, New Lexington with Military Honors provided by Wright-Patterson AFB.
