John Cozatt Hays, 86, died Saturday, October 17, 2009. The son of the late Samuel Searles Hays and Mae Cozatt Hays, he was bom July 19, 1923 in Parksville, Ky. John is the widower of June Hayes Hays.
  He graduated from Parksville High School and the Univertsity of Kentucky.
  He served as a pilot in the Army Air Corp during WWII and the US Air Force during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. John retired from the Air Force as a commander with the rank of Lt. Col. He was awarded many medals for his service including a silver star.
  Following retirement from the Air Force, John was a realtor and auctioneer in Danville. He was a member of The Presbyterian Church and a fantastic father.
  John is survived by a daughter, Nancy June Hays and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sam (Jane) Hays, both of Danville. He is also survived by a niece and three nephews, Sam S. Hays III (Judy) of Clemmons, NC, Tim Hayes (Ruth) of Ft. Wayne, hid., Pat Myers (Steve) of San Francisco, Ca., and David Hayes (Peggy) of San Francisco, Ca.; six great nieces and nephews and five great-great nieces and nephews.
  The graveside service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, with Rev. Jim Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
The family requests memorials be sent to the Danville-Boyle Co. Humane Society or The Salvation Army.
