HUGHES, DAVID E., 72, of Homestead, FL, passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011. Born in Indianapolis, IN on March 5, 1938 to Hanley B. Hughes and Mildred L. Burgett. He was one of eight children. David served his country as the Chief Master Sargent in the United States Air Force Reserves for the 482nd CAMS, at Homestead AFB. He retired from service in April 1993. He was a member of the Freemason's Royal Palm Lodge 100 in Florida. He is survived by his loving wife Carol R. (Sankows) Eveld Hughes; his son David B. Hughes, daughters Kay M. Hancock (Phil) & Julie S. Hughes, step-sons Edward J. Eveld (Cindy) and James W. Eveld (Helaine); the following grandchildren; Katrina B. Hughes, Angela C. Hunt, Jason M. Hunt, Ryan A. Hancock, Kaitlyn M. Hancock, the late Whitney B. Magill, Kyle W. Magill, Cierra J. Rocheville, Richard J. Thorpe (Jennifer), Tara L. Thorpe, Edward B. Eveld, Jenna M. Eveld, Amanda S. Eveld, Shannon A. Eveld and 6 great-grand children. He is also survived by his brother Robert T. Hughes (A. Lucille) and his sisters Carol Ann Boggs (Raymond) and Betty Lou Lappalainen. He was preceded in death by his sister Naomi Beyhimer and brothers Alfred D. Hughes and Hanley B. Hughes. The viewing will be held Friday, Feb. 18 from 6 pm - 10 pm at Branam Funeral Home at 809 N. Krome Avenue in Homestead. A Masonic Funeral Service will begin at 8 pm. Loved ones will meet once again at Branam Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 19 from 10:30 - 11 am for a short service and sealing of the casket. The funeral procession will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Park South Cemetery located at 11655 SW 117 Avenue in Miami, FL with a grave side Military funeral.
