Conley Clayton "Matt" Matthews, 80, of Crossville, passed away June 8, 2012. The family received friends at Bilbrey Funeral Home June 10.

He was born May 9, 1932, in Jamestown, son of the late William Cleo Matthews and Bertha Belle (Dockery) Matthews. Mr. Matthews was retired from the United States Air Force Reserve and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine "Gerie" (Fox) Matthews, of Crossville; son, Mark Matthews of Ohio; stepsons, James Cornette and Don Cornette, both of Ohio; stepdaughters, Denise Cornette of Ohio and Joyce McConaha of Knoxville; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Jean Johnson; brother, James Matthews; sister, Maxine Matthews Fritsch; and granddaughter, Melissa McConaha.
